Today, April 1, marks the beginning of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

Why is this month so important? Globally, 1 in 3 women worldwide has been subjected to either physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. In the U.S., someone is sexually assaulted every 68 seconds. Clearly, we need to increase awareness and action to address this sexual violence that one in three women and one in six men experience in their lifetimes.

This year, we are focused on ending sexual violence everywhere—including our online spaces—because harassment, assault, and abuse can happen anywhere. As our lives and business are increasingly conducted online, it’s important to know how to practice digital consent, intervene when we see harmful content or behaviors, and ensure that online spaces—whether they be workspaces, classrooms, social media platforms, or otherwise—are respectful and safe.

Join us and our partners and allies during SAAM and say #NOMORE to sexual violence, both online and in person. And download our recently released “Talking Healthy Relationships” conversation guide in English and Spanish for parents and caregivers to talk to kids and help stop the violence before it starts.
